New Holland T7 work lights sit on the front and rear of the cab roof, along the cab sides and waistline, and in the bonnet, with the road headlamps in the bonnet nose and often a second set of high level headlamps in the roof. Since the 2015 update, T7 tractors can carry up to 16 LED work lights in the cab roof, and the 2021 T7 Heavy Duty with the Horizon Ultra cab offers up to 24 LED lights. Every T7 runs on 12V.

This guide sits under our New Holland tractor lights guide. It covers the T7 generations from the T7000 series to the latest SWB and XD tractors, where each lamp sits, the common replacement jobs, and how to buy LED upgrades that fit.

Which T7 Do You Have?

The T7 name covers several ranges built side by side: standard wheelbase (SWB), long wheelbase (LWB), Heavy Duty (HD) and now XD. Each has gone through its own updates, and the cab and lighting changed with them.

Range or generation Years Example models Lighting headline
T7000 series 2007 to 2011 T7030, T7040, T7050, T7060 Halogen road and work lamps on most tractors
First T7 (Auto Command, Power Command, Range Command) 2011 to 2015 T7.170, T7.200, T7.235, T7.270 Halogen as standard, LED work lamps on some specs
T7 Blue Power update, Horizon cab From 2015 T7.175, T7.225 and other models Up to 16 LED work lights in the cab roof, 360 degree coverage, LED “cat eye” bonnet lights
T7 Heavy Duty, first version From 2015 T7.290, T7.315 Bigger chassis, LED work lamp options
T7 Heavy Duty, Horizon Ultra cab From 2021 T7.275, T7.290, T7.315 Up to 24 LED lights, LED road lighting, optional waistline lamps
T7 LWB with PLM Intelligence, Horizon Ultra cab Early 2020s on (T7.300 LWB added late 2022) T7.230, T7.245, T7.260, T7.270, T7.300 LED packages, layout similar to the HD
New T7 SWB 2025 on (UK debut at LAMMA 2026) 180 to 225 hp models, flagship T7.225 New nose design; check fitment by serial number
T7 XD Shown at LAMMA 2026 Up to 435 hp Too new for aftermarket fitment data; use the dealer

The figure after “T7.” is the rated power in horsepower. Because SWB, LWB and HD tractors overlap in power, the same badge number can appear on different chassis, so check the wheelbase and cab as well as the model number.

Where the Lights Sit on a T7

Zone What sits there Typical job
Bonnet nose Road headlamps and the “cat eye” lights (LED from the 2015 update) Road lighting and front signature
Bonnet sides Hood work lights (up to 4 LED hood lights listed on current SWB tractors) Front wheels, front linkage, loader
Cab roof High level headlamps for distance on the road, plus front and rear roof work lights Road distance lighting, field ahead, rear linkage
Rear roof corners Long range rear work lamps on HD and Horizon Ultra cabs Lighting the full width and length of a wide implement
Cab waistline and handrails Optional side lamps (up to 10 extra on the HD); rear ones can double as reversing lights Wheels, ground beside the tractor, reversing
Roof Amber beacons Road warning
Rear fenders Tail, brake, indicator and number plate lamps Road legal rear lighting

Lighting Control

On the Horizon Ultra cab, lighting is controlled through the IntelliView terminal with automatic dusk sensing and memory settings, so the driver can, for example, switch off the lamps on one side when working alongside a combine at night. That control is electronic, which matters when you add or replace lamps (see below).

Case IH Puma Crossover

The T7 shares much of its platform with the Case IH Puma within CNH. Some lamps carry the same part number on both tractors, but not all. Check the part number on the lamp or in the parts catalogue rather than assuming a Puma lamp will fit.

Common Replacement Needs on a T7

  • Cab roof work lamps. The roof lamps and high level headlamps are the most exposed lamps on the tractor. Branches, hedges, shed doors and loader work break lenses and brackets.
  • Beacon mounts. A rigid beacon pole snaps when it meets a branch or a low doorway. A flexi mount bends and springs back.
  • Waistline and handrail lamps. Low side lamps get caught by gates, bale handlers and implements.
  • Halogen bulbs on older T7s. First generation and T7000 tractors on halogen still get through bulbs, especially in the roof lamps.
  • Water ingress. Cracked lenses and perished seals let water in, which kills both halogen reflectors and LED drivers.

LED Upgrade Paths for the T7

Halogen T7000 and First Generation T7

These tractors gain the most from LED. Replace halogen roof work lamps with LED work lights on the same or a new bracket, matching flood beams to the rear and sides and a spot or combo beam to the front if you need distance. Our tractor LED work lights and LED work lamps ranges cover 12V flood, spot and combo patterns. LED lamps draw much less current than halogen, which eases the load on an older alternator. The halogen to LED upgrade guide walks through the process.

2015 Onwards T7 With Part LED Spec

Tractors ordered without the full LED roof package can be brought up to a similar standard. Replace remaining halogen roof lamps with LED lamps of the same mounting and connector where you want to keep factory switching, or add lamps on a separate circuit.

Horizon Ultra Tractors

These already run LED lighting. When a lamp fails or breaks, replace it like for like so it works with the terminal controls. Added lamps should go on their own fused, relay switched circuit and not be spliced into factory lamp wiring, which can cause fault codes on an electronically controlled lighting system.

EMC and Guidance

Most T7 tractors now run GPS guidance. Pick LED lamps that state EMC compliance to ECE R10, because poorly suppressed lamps can interfere with radio and GPS signals. Our guide to EMC compliant LED work lights explains what to look for.

How to Identify Your Exact T7 Model and Year

  1. Read the badge. T7030 style names are the T7000 series (2007 to 2011). T7.xxx names are 2011 on.
  2. Check the chassis. SWB, LWB and HD tractors overlap in power, so confirm which chassis you have. The Heavy Duty and the newer LWB tractors use the Horizon Ultra cab.
  3. Find the serial plate. The serial number identifies the build. A New Holland dealer can confirm the year and factory lighting package from it.
  4. Look at the bonnet. LED cat eye lights in the nose point to a 2015 or later tractor.
  5. Photograph the lamp and plug. Note the shape, bolt pattern and connector type before you order.

Buying Tips for New Holland T7 Lights

  • Buy by chassis and year, not badge number alone. A T7.270 has been built on more than one platform.
  • Replace in pairs. Matched left and right lamps keep the colour and output even.
  • Use approved lamps for road functions. Headlamps, indicators and rear lamps used on the road need the correct E-mark. Work lamps are for lighting a working area, not for driving on the road.
  • Choose wash-down rated lamps. IP67 is the minimum for exposed lamps; IP69K suits tractors that are pressure washed often.
  • Fit a flexi beacon mount if you keep breaking poles. Browse tractor beacons or read our beacon mounting options guide.

Frequently asked questions

How many work lights does a New Holland T7 have?

It depends on the version and options. From the 2015 update, T7 tractors can have up to 16 LED work lights in the cab roof. The Heavy Duty with the Horizon Ultra cab (2021 on) offers up to 24 LED lights, including optional waistline lamps.

Are New Holland T7 lights 12V?

Yes. The T7 runs a 12V electrical system. Replacement bulbs must be 12V, and LED work lamps rated 12V to 24V work correctly.

Do Case IH Puma lights fit a New Holland T7?

Sometimes. The two tractors share a lot of their platform and some lamps carry the same part number, but not every lamp is shared. Check the part number before ordering.

Can I upgrade an older T7 from halogen to LED work lights?

Yes. T7000 and first generation T7 tractors take LED work lights on the existing or new brackets. Match the beam pattern to each position, use EMC compliant lamps if you run GPS, and wire extra lamps through their own fuse and relay.
