Massey Ferguson 7S Lights: Work Lights, Beacons and LED Upgrades
Massey Ferguson 7S lights explained: MF 7S work lights (up to 16, or 27 on the Mark II), bonnet light bar, beacons, common repairs and LED upgrade tips.
In this guide
Massey Ferguson 7S lights are the LED headlamps and bonnet light bar at the front, the work lights on the cab roof, around the cab and on the bonnet, the amber beacons on the roof and the rear lamp clusters. The first MF 7S (2021 on) offers up to 16 LED work lights as an option. The MF 7S Mark II, revealed in autumn 2026, has LED lighting as standard and up to 27 LED work lights on the top specification. Both run on 12V.
This guide sits under our Massey Ferguson tractor lights guide, which covers the older 6400, 7400, 7600 and 7700 series. Here we focus on the 7S: which version you have, where each lamp sits, what tends to break, and how to buy replacements and upgrades that fit.
Which MF 7S Do You Have?
There are now 2 distinct tractors carrying the 7S name. They share a badge style but differ in cab, engine and lighting, and the Mark II sits alongside the first 7S rather than replacing it.
| Version | Introduced | Models | Transmission | Lighting headline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MF 7S | September 2021 (replaced the MF 7700 S) | 7S.155, 7S.165, 7S.180, 7S.190, plus 7S.210 from late 2021 | Dyna-6 (up to 7S.180) or Dyna-VT | LED light design with bonnet light bar, up to 16 LED work lights optional |
| MF 7S Mark II | Revealed autumn 2026, first deliveries expected spring 2027 | 7S.170, 7S.185, 7S.200, 7S.215, 7S.230, 7S.245 | Dyna-VT only | LED as standard, 4 lighting packages, up to 27 LED work lights on the top spec (8 on the bonnet, 19 on the cab) |
The model number after the dot is the maximum power in horsepower. On the first 7S the specification levels are Essential, Panoramic, Efficient and Exclusive, depending on model. The Mark II uses a 7.5 litre engine and a cab developed from the MF 8S, with an updated electrical system, so treat it as a separate tractor for lighting parts until parts listings say otherwise.
If your tractor is badged 7718 S, 7720 S or similar, it is the previous MF 7700 S, not a 7S. Lamps differ, so use the make guide for that series.
Where the Lights Sit on an MF 7S
The 7S lighting layout follows the same zones as most modern tractors. How many lamps you have in each zone depends on the specification level and the options chosen when the tractor was ordered.
| Zone | What sits there | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Bonnet front | LED headlamps and the bonnet light bar signature | Road lighting; the light bar gives the 7S its front signature |
| Bonnet sides | Bonnet work lights (Mark II has up to 8 bonnet work lights) | Front wheels, front linkage, loader |
| Front cab roof | Work lights across the front of the roof | Field ahead and loader work |
| Cab sides and handrails | Side work lamps, depending on spec | Ground beside the tractor, wheels, steps |
| Rear cab roof | Work lights across the rear of the roof | Rear linkage, hitch, implement, trailer |
| Roof | Amber beacon or beacons | Socket or bolt-on mount depending on spec |
| Rear fenders and cab | Tail, brake, indicator, reverse and number plate lamps | Road legal rear lighting |
Visio Roof
The optional Visio Roof has a clear panel so the driver can see a loader at full lift. A Visio Roof tractor can have a different front roof profile, so check the roof type when ordering front roof work lamps or brackets.
Common Replacement Needs on a 7S
- Damaged cab roof work lamps. Roof lamps take hits from branches, shed door frames and hedges, and from the loader on Visio Roof tractors. A cracked lens lets water in and the lamp fails soon after.
- Snapped beacon mounts. A rigid beacon pole breaks when it meets an overhanging branch. A flexi mount bends back and survives.
- Side and handrail lamps knocked off. Gates, bale handlers and implements catch low lamps around the steps.
- Water in lamps after pressure washing. Lamps that are not rated for high pressure washing can let water past the seal. Replacement lamps should be IP67 or better, ideally IP69K.
- Rear lamp damage. Rear clusters on the fenders get hit by implements and trailer drawbars when hitching up.
Before ordering a replacement roof lamp, check the bracket is straight and the cable and connector are undamaged. A bent bracket throws the beam in the wrong place, and a strained plug can lose contact a few weeks later.
LED Upgrade Paths for the MF 7S
Most 7S tractors already have LED road lighting. The upgrade question is usually about work lights: fitting more of them, or getting a better beam pattern than the base specification gives.
Replace Like for Like
If a factory LED work lamp fails or is damaged, the simplest route is a lamp with the same mounting, size and connector. This keeps the original aim and switching. Take a photo of the lamp, the bracket and the plug before you order.
Upgrade Base Spec Tractors
Tractors ordered without the full work light option often have spare roof positions or plain roof edges where extra lamps can go. Universal tractor LED work lights bolt to brackets on the roof edge, mirror arms or handrails. Choose flood beams for the rear and sides, and a spot or combo beam on the front roof if you need distance for fieldwork at night.
Wire Extra Lamps Properly
Extra lamps need a fused, relay switched circuit of their own. The 7S manages much of its lighting electronically, and splicing into factory lamp feeds can upset that control and cause faults that are hard to trace. Our guide on how to mount work lights covers brackets and positions.
Check EMC Before You Buy
Many 7S tractors run GPS guidance. Poorly suppressed LED lamps can cause radio and GPS interference. Pick LED work lamps that state EMC compliance to ECE R10. The guide to LED lights and GPS interference explains the symptoms and fixes.
How to Identify Your Exact 7S Model and Year
- Read the bonnet badge. The figure after “7S.” is the power. A 7S.170, 7S.185, 7S.200, 7S.215, 7S.230 or 7S.245 is a Mark II. A 7S.155, 7S.165, 7S.180, 7S.190 or 7S.210 is the first 7S.
- Check the serial plate. The tractor serial number on the chassis plate identifies the build. Your MF dealer can confirm the year and factory options from it.
- Note the specification level. Essential, Panoramic, Efficient or Exclusive on the first 7S. This affects which work light options were offered.
- Check the roof. A clear roof panel means a Visio Roof.
- Look at the lamp and plug. Note the lamp shape, the bolt pattern and the connector type. Many modern tractor lamps use sealed Deutsch style connectors.
Buying Tips for MF 7S Lights
- Do not assume Mark II parts match the first 7S. Different cab, different electrical system. Confirm by part number or serial number.
- Do not assume AGCO cross-references. Some lamps are shared across AGCO brands, but check the part number rather than guessing from a sister tractor.
- Replace work lamps in pairs. Matching left and right lamps keeps the colour and output even.
- Use approved lamps for road functions. Headlamps, indicators and rear lamps used on the road must carry the correct E-mark.
- Fit the right beacon mount. The beacon has to be visible all round. If you keep breaking poles, read our guide to flexi DIN beacon mounts and browse tractor beacons.
- Match the voltage. The 7S is 12V. Most LED work lamps run on 12V to 24V.

Frequently asked questions
How many work lights can an MF 7S have?
The first MF 7S, launched in 2021, can be specified with up to 16 LED work lights. The MF 7S Mark II, revealed in 2026, can have up to 27 LED work lights on the top specification, with 8 on the bonnet and 19 on the cab.
Are MF 7S lights 12V or 24V?
The MF 7S runs a 12V electrical system. Replacement bulbs must be 12V, and most LED work lamps rated 12V to 24V will work correctly.
What is the difference between the MF 7S and the 7S Mark II?
The Mark II is a new tractor that sits alongside the first 7S, with a 7.5 litre engine, a cab developed from the MF 8S, Dyna-VT only, a 12 inch terminal and LED lighting as standard with 4 lighting packages. Model names run from 7S.170 to 7S.245, so the badge tells you which one you have.
Can I add more work lights to a base spec 7S?
Yes. Universal LED work lights fit brackets on the roof edge, mirror arms and handrails. Wire them through their own fuse, relay and switch rather than tapping into factory lamp circuits, and choose EMC compliant lamps if you run GPS.
