12V trailer plugs and sockets
12V trailer plugs and sockets connect the lighting circuit of a 12 volt tractor, pickup or 4x4 to a trailer, implement or lighting board. This page lists the 12V units in the range: 7-pin 12N plugs and sockets for lights, 7-pin 12S plugs for supplementary circuits, 13-pin Euro plugs and sockets, plug housings and connector kits. UK agricultural trailers use the 7-pin 12N standard, so a 12N socket on the tractor and a 12N plug on the trailer is the normal pairing.

Choosing a 12V plug or socket
Match the pin count to the trailer and check the body material: metal sockets with a sprung lid outlast plastic ones on a tractor kept outside. A 13-pin socket carries lights, reverse lamp and a permanent feed in one connector and suits a trailer with a 13-pin plug; an adaptor converts between 7-pin and 13-pin. The pin layout of a 12V socket differs from a 24V one, so use the 24V plugs and sockets page for 24 volt machines.
