Rivets and Rivet Guns
Rivets and rivet guns cover blind pop rivets in aluminium and steel, drive rivets, rivet nuts that give a threaded fixing in thin sheet, and the hand and lazy-tong guns that set them. Rivets fix trim, number plates, lamp brackets and trailer body panels where a screw has nothing to bite into.

Choosing a rivet
Match the rivet diameter (3.2, 4.0, 4.8 or 6.4mm) to the hole and the grip range to the total panel thickness. Steel rivets are stronger than aluminium and suit trailer bodies; aluminium rivets suit cab trim. A rivet nut takes an M4 to M10 bolt in a panel too thin to tap. Self-tapping screws for the same jobs are under self-tapping screws.
