Choosing a nut

Match the thread size and pitch to the bolt, and the grade to the bolt grade. Use a nyloc or flanged lock nut on anything that vibrates, such as a lamp bracket or guard; a plain hexagon nut with a spring washer is the alternative. Tube nuts are sized by the pipe outside diameter and thread. Bolts and set screws are under bolts and studding and set screws.
